| What follows is a "Thank You" letter sent by Kelvin to Ray and Pat Townsend and
this says it all.
On behalf of the 4x4 Club thank you for allowing us the privilege of driving in your Charara
Safari area once again this year.
The expedition was a huge success as it challenged our vehicles and some of our members which
is what we were looking for. We had great fun travelling 21 km south of the Kasiga River in a loop
which took us 6 hours! We built crossings over washaways, chain sawed a huge Natal Mahogany
which lay across the track, laid tracks through very thick and tall grass and opened up the road
for you! I don't think this track had been used for many years. The views were magnificent as we
drove up some very steep inclines, the river crossings had water in which was welcomed as we all
needed a bath and the humour and comradeship amongst the club members was memorable. We
spent the first night at the hunting camp on the Charara and our thanks to Warren for being so
accommodating. Please convey this to him on our behalf. The next night was spent in the Nyaodza
River bed and the final night was in the Tsororo River. We travelled in total around 150kms in
your area. Being out there in the bush was just what was called for!
The club raised a sum of $400 towards your anti-poaching efforts. I will get it over to you in the
next couple of days. If there is anything that we can do further to assist please don't hesitate to
call on us.
Thank you from us all. Regards; Kelvin; 4x4 Club of Zimbabwe
